Policies
Confidential and Research
We respect your right to privacy and keep all your health information confidential and secure. It is important that the NHS keeps accurate and up-to-date records about your health and treatment so that those treating you can give you the best possible advice and care.
All our non-clinical staff have signed a declaration of confidentiality. Any information we hold about you will be treated as confidential and will only be used to provide for your care. This may include reviewing the information as part of a methodical monitoring of the quality of our services. Apart from these purposes, no information can be used that might identify you unless we have sought your permission.
If any information held about you is used for any research purposes, then any details that might identify you as an individual are removed. All research projects are fully scrutinised by the national body to make sure that they will benift the public.
To improve the quality of care that we provide our patients, from time to time we may have to share medical information that we hold on you with third parties who will be involved in your care, such as district nurses, health visitors, community matrons, social services and child protection agencies. Where necessary, we will seek your prior consent.

NHS Summary Care Records
A Summary Care Record is an electronic record which contains information about the medicines you take, allergies you suffer from and any bad reactions to medicines you have had.
Having this information stored in one place makes it easier for healthcare staff to treat you in an emergency, or when your GP practice is closed.
